Have had a few opportunities recently to hang about on the water – the last time I was up at the Great Lake Taupo around Easter I got the opportunity to hang out on the lake itself. Everything was still and moody and in an odd ‘tense’ state of peace. You knew something was brewing yet while you were sat there bobbing quietly away everything was amazingly still and calm.
I like that. I find the realisation of serenity and an isolated place of calm amongst the storms of day-to-day life to be all too few and therefore all the richer an experience.
These are pictures which reflect photography in the simplest, purest way for me. There’s no reason, just an unconscious need to steal a few moments which speak to that person inside me.
